You can now get free COVID-19 tests through the government again By Alice Park Senior Health Correspondent The U.S. government will soon start sending free COVID-19 tests to your home again, if you want them to. The program, which stopped in September, is being revived for a limited time, the Biden Administration said today, allowing each household in the U.S. to order four rapid antigen self-tests, delivered to their door for free. (Separately, people with insurance can also continue to get reimbursed for eight rapid tests per month.) The kits are part of the Administration’s new Winter Preparedness Plan to combat climbing rates of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV. In addition to the test kits, the government is also providing support to states for mobile and pop-up vaccination sites, as well as preparing personnel and equipment for hospitals should case surges start to overwhelm health care facilities.
