AN EXPERT VOICE

"There's no consensus on how much time is OK to spend on social media each day. The thing to pay attention to is if it's getting in the way of other aspects of your health, like exercising or spending time outside. It's about balancing your time overall, and how social media fits in with the other things that are important to you."

—Jacqueline Nesi, a psychologist who studies the role of social media in adolescents’ mental health
