One option is for the mom to anonymously surrender her newborn at a hospital or fire station, a practice that's been allowed for decades. But now, in the wake of abortion restrictions across several states, many communities are installing "baby boxes," bassinets built into the sides of fire stations where parents can drop off newborns.
